Custom Seamless Integration of guest house into custom home. Located in the Animas Valley north of Durango our client had a very nice custom home already. What they were lacking was garage space for their toys and sleeping space for guests. So with our help and the help of our architect, we designed a very nice custom garage/guest house to solve both issues. The new space will be finished to match the existing house and when we are done it will look like it belongs there. We are proud to complete design/build projects of all sizes and this one will another fun project!
High Quality/Small Footprint. When the Garrett brothers found this large property west of Durango in Hesperus, they knew that is where they want to be. We will build 2 homes on the property, one for each brother. For the main home we once again partnered with Wind River Timber Frames for the frame. This will be a true timber frame and will show off Wind River’s incredible talent for joinery. Both of the houses prove that a very nice custom home can be on the smaller side too. Often choosing extremely high quality in a smaller footprint is the way to go. It is always fun to work with great clients and to help them see their vision come to fruition!
We first met this couple back in 2019. At the time they weren’t sure if buying an existing house or building was the right choice. After looking they quickly discovered that in order to get the forever custom home they really wanted they needed to build. We worked together to hire an architect and started designing. Now, in 2023 we are starting the actual construction. We sure enjoy building these relationships with our clients. We enjoy every part of the design build process and it is fun to see our work take shape! Located in Timberdale Ranch subdivision outside of Bayfield, CO this will be a very nice custom home and detached garage. Great clients make this fun!
We are proud to be building this very nice custom retirement home in Edgemont Meadows. This subdivision is the newest development in Edgemont located just outside of Durango. For this custom home we worked with the owners to select and hire an architect for the design. RMBA Architects did a great job on the design. Now we get to build it. We really do enjoy this design build process. It’s fun to turn the owners vision into reality!
Incredible views. Like many of our clients this couple lived much of their life in the city. When they started thinking about retirement the Bayfield area was a perfect fit! Nestled in the trees north of Bayfield this new custom home will fulfill their dream. We are even including an endless pool so they can swim for exercise without even leaving the house. Another fine design/build project that we are proud to take on.
Stunning views! That is what drew this family to want to build here. Situated high on a hilltop overlooking Navajo lake the views are amazing. You can see for miles in every direction. The cabin will be a second home and will be compact in size to keep maintenance to a minimum. With covered patios on both sides they can take in the view in the sun or shade anytime they want. Another fun project for some great clients!
I just love the creative design build process. This custom home is another great example. When we can work together with the client and the architect from the very beginning it makes for a fun project. Watching and guiding the design process brings out our creativity. Of course it takes a team effort to end up with the design our client wants within their budget. It really is a fun process. Now we get to build it!
Custom timber frame home. This beautiful home sits in Forest Groves subdivision high above the Florida river. It is a mountain setting on a fairly steep lot. The slope of the lot dictated that this home would be built with a separate detached garage. The home itself is 2240 square ft. and the 2 car garage is oversized slightly. Completed in 2010 this home shows off a craftsman style with cedar siding, rough sawn beam trusses and stone. Inside features a gas fireplace surrounded by stone and the great room has all T&G stained wood ceiling. Heating is accomplished using a 93% efficient forced air system. Interior doors and trim are all clear pine stained to blend with the rest of the house. These clients where a pleasure to work with and we all had fun building their house.
These clients had already built their retirement home and were ready for a Southwest Adobe Guesthouse that could also serve as a caretaker’s home. This project is unique in the fact that the house is built using “earth blocks”. This is a type of construction similar to adobe and one that we hadn’t been involved with before. Because our clients built their other home this way they knew the right subcontractor to use for that portion. Situated on the La Plata river south west of Colorado this home gets plenty of sunshine. The southwest style home shows that style inside and out. True plaster walls on the inside, tile counters and the trim materials all show a Mexican theme. The house is heated using radiant in-floor that is heated using solar panels. This system is unbelievably efficient. Certainly one of the most unique homes that we have built. Another example of why we love our design/build process. A true custom home like no other in Durango.
