Sitting in a beautiful location high above the Animas Valley floor near Missionary Ridge is our latest guest house project. The owner has a large ranch property and beautiful main house. Our job is to design and build a new custom guest house.
Design is finished and construction is underway. We have thoroughly enjoyed the views and the wildlife at this job site. We commonly see deer, elk, bears, and once a couple of bobcat cubs. More house photos to come as things progress.

Our clients have a very nice house in Edgemont Ranch just outside of Durango. The homes inside is in very good condition but the exterior needs some work. Neglect from the previous owner with the help from some wood peckers caused the existing wood siding to deteriorate. Our plan is to remove the existing siding along with some stucco and replace with new. The materials chosen are Diamond Kote-Smart Side with some thermally modified wood around the entry. Eventually the stone work will also be replaced but that portion will happen later. Our crew has been making short work of the siding removal/replacement so far. At Will Construction we spend much of our time designing and building new custom homes. We can also help with your remodel projects and additions. Custom Seamless Integration of guest house into custom home. Located in the Animas Valley north of Durango our client had a very nice custom home already. What they were lacking was garage space for their toys and sleeping space for guests. So with our help and the help of our architect, we designed a very nice custom garage/guest house to solve both issues. The new space will be finished to match the existing house and when we are done it will look like it belongs there. We are proud to complete design/build projects of all sizes and this one will another fun project!
When you have a vacation home in Durango you always need more storage. This custom detached garage near Turtle lake in Durango will add a significant amount of storage space. This is the start of the custom garage foundation. When finished it will have an over-sized garage area with enclosed storage space in the back. Along side of that will be an open covered carport area. They will have lots of room for cars and toys!
High Quality/Small Footprint. When the Garrett brothers found this large property west of Durango in Hesperus, they knew that is where they want to be. We will build 2 homes on the property, one for each brother. For the main home we once again partnered with Wind River Timber Frames for the frame. This will be a true timber frame and will show off Wind River’s incredible talent for joinery. Both of the houses prove that a very nice custom home can be on the smaller side too. Often choosing extremely high quality in a smaller footprint is the way to go. It is always fun to work with great clients and to help them see their vision come to fruition!
This property sits Southwest of Durango in the Hesperus area. The property is beautiful but the exiting home just wasn’t big enough. So we worked with the owners and our architect to design a new custom master bedroom and bathroom addition. With In-Floor radiant heating and nice finishes to match the existing house the owners will certainly enjoy the new space. The design is such that when finished the addition will blend seamlessly with the home and will look like it was always there. We get to work for some great clients and in beautiful locations. This is just another example of why this is so much fun!
We first met this couple back in 2019. At the time they weren’t sure if buying an existing house or building was the right choice. After looking they quickly discovered that in order to get the forever custom home they really wanted they needed to build. We worked together to hire an architect and started designing. Now, in 2023 we are starting the actual construction. We sure enjoy building these relationships with our clients. We enjoy every part of the design build process and it is fun to see our work take shape! We are proud to be building this very nice custom retirement home in Edgemont Meadows. This subdivision is the newest development in Edgemont located just outside of Durango. For this custom home we worked with the owners to select and hire an architect for the design. RMBA Architects did a great job on the design. Now we get to build it. We really do enjoy this design build process. It’s fun to turn the owners vision into reality!
Snodgrass RV Garage Addition. Our mission states in part that “our goal is for our first time clients to be lifetime clients”. Well here is another example. After building their retirement home several years ago our clients have started traveling. They needed a safe place to park their RV so we are proud to be working for them again. We worked together to design and are now building a new RV garage for them. At Will Construction we are proud to have some of the best clients and honored that they choose us to build for them!
Custom log home renovation: Situated in the mountains east of Bayfield this older log home is in such a beautiful location that some renovations were in order. The house is in great shape from a structural standpoint but was in need of some upgrades. Much of the interior is being gutted and will be rebuilt with modern materials and some design improvements. The exterior decks were all rotten and needed to come down. This gave us the opportunity for some changes as well. The main entry is being remodeled and includes a new deck and new timber frame roof structure. The new decks use redwood decking and custom steel cable rails for a great new look. When finished this will be a gorgeous mountain home in an unbeatable setting.
