Some of our clients like log homes but don’t want the added maintenance that comes with them. For those people, we design and build using conventional framing but incorporate log accents. For this mountain home built just outside of Durango in the Forest Groves subdivision in 2002, we used log posts, beams, log railings and other accents. There is even a small loft for the grandkids complete with log railings and a log ladder. The stone on the outside helps the house blend into the surroundings. The large fireplace is constructed with stone and includes a wood box and custom log mantle. Saltillo tile floors add a southwest flair to this house. The house sits right on the Florida river so we designed and built a large window wall using logs for the framework. This is just another fine example of what Durango custom home building should be!
