This family wanted to build a vacation home on their lot near Mancos. The lot was the perfect out of the way setting for a nice custom home with outstanding mountain views.
The project was somewhat unique in the fact that the house was actually a cabin kit. The kit contained pre-manufactured wall panels which helped to reduce the material costs somewhat but primarily reduced the labor cost for framing. The home consists of a 1718 square feet of main floor with a loft. The great room features a large window wall with fantastic views of the mountains to the west. The open kitchen with bar area will make entertaining a breeze. The exterior is finished using Hardi Plank fiber cement siding so maintenance will be kept at a minimum. The large cedar deck adds that all important outdoor living space on a house like this.
